Alex Kaju

Dr. Alex Kaju brings a multidisciplinary background in behavioral science, marketing, and entrepreneurship to ISTEP, where he teaches courses on innovation and business within engineering contexts. Before joining ISTEP, Alex was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at HEC Montréal and has held leadership roles in industry as Head of Behavioral Science at both Novartis and Clarity Recruitment. In these roles, he helped design and evaluate decision processes for employees and customers across banking, pharmaceuticals, insurance, and tech.

Alex’s entrepreneurial experience includes founding a behavioral economics consulting practice, being part of the early team at Clarity Recruitment as it grew in size and service capabilities, and advising major Canadian banks, startups, and public institutions. His teaching spans marketing, organizational behavior, and strategy, and has earned recognition at both HEC and Rotman Commerce, where he was awarded a Rotman Teaching Award during his PhD.

Alex’s academic research explores how technologies like AI and smartphones shape human decision-making, with publications in the Journal of Consumer PsychologyJournal of Experimental Social Psychology, and Psychology & Marketing. He holds a PhD and MBA from the Rotman School of Management, and a BPHE from the University of Toronto.

Outside the classroom, Alex enjoys golf, skiing, squash, hockey, and spending time with his family.
