    About

    Engineering Business Futures is a program that offers a holistic approach towards engineering business education, and provides students the opportunity to learn more about the career paths at the intersection of engineering and business. We offer co-curricular activities like exciting career stories speaker series, engineering-business case competitions, a mentorship program, and dynamic networking events.

    Case Competition

    The Engineering Business Futures annual case competition is a weekend-long event designed exclusively for undergraduate engineering students. This event serves as a platform for young, talented minds to showcase their problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and business acumen. The competition challenges our engineering students to analyze real-world engineering business problems and propose innovative and sustainable solutions while considering the financial, technical, and ethical aspects. With a focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and practical application, the Engineering Business Futures case competition aims to foster a spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership among the next generation of engineers.

    Past partners have included: Procter & Gamble, Toronto Global, Oncor Energy, OMERS, Li-Cycle, and Sardo Foods.

    Application Requirements

    The Engineering Business Futures Case Competition provides undergraduate engineering students with the opportunity to integrate technical knowledge with business strategy through a real-world case analysis from a sponsoring company.

    Priority will be given to undergraduate students who are pursuing the Engineering Business Certificate or Minor and who have completed courses in this pursuit.

    We encourage applications from both individuals and pre-formed teams. When completing the application, please specify whether you are applying as an individual participant or as part of a pre-formed team. All teams must be comprised of 3 members minimum - 4 members maxTeam applications will be submitted by a "Team Representative" and they will be the primary contact for the event logistics and communications. This is the individual who is submitting the application on behalf of the team.

    If you apply as an individual, rest assured - we will match you with like-minded peers who share your passion for collaboration, problem solving, and business innovation.

    What’s Next?

    Following the application deadline, successful applicants (individual/Team Rep. who submitted the application) will be notified via email of their acceptance and provided with detailed next steps to prepare for participation in the competition by Friday September 26, 2025.

    Engineering Business Mentorship Program

    The Engineering Business Futures Mentorship Program is collaborating with professionals from Deloitte to offer an exclusive 8-week mentorship program! You'll work closely with your mentor to explore opportunities for personal and professional growth while gaining insight into industry-specific knowledge and skills. With a focus on engineering business careers, this program provides valuable networking opportunities while engaging in career development activities and conversations.

    3. Improve your ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively, preparing you for future career success
